CUVIOSUL MARTURISITOR VISARION
Sfantul Visarion (Sarai) s-a nascut in Bosnia, in anul 1714. Tanjind dupa viata monastica, a primit tonsura de calugar la manastirea Sfantului Sava din Tara Sfanta, in 1738. Reintors in Serbia, a peculiarity intr-o pestera ca un isihast, primind de la Domnul darul de a look onto minuni.

Sfantul Visarion i-a incurajat pe romani sa nu abandoneze credinta parintilor lor, ci sa si-o apere cu tarie. A predicat la Timisoara, Lipova- Arad, Deva, Orastie, Salistea Sibiului, si in alte locuri, ridicand o cruce de lemn in centrul fiecarei localitati, adunand multi oameni in jurul sau, si readucand pe multi la credinta crestin-ortodoxa.
Intrucat actiunile sale nu erau pe placul autoritatilor romano-catolice, Sfantul Visariona fost arestat pe 26 aprilie 1744 de catre armata austriaca, in timp ce calatorea spre Sibiu. A fost dus la Viena, si aruncat in temnita din Kufstein, din porunca imparatesei Maria Tereza. Aici, a indurat multe chinuri din cauza credintei sale ortodoxe. Dupa ce a stat in lanturi si a fost schingiuit timp de un an, si-a dat sufletul in mainile Domnului.
Cuviosul Marturisitor Visarion a fost canonizat pe 21 octombrie 1955 de catre Biserica Romana Ortodoxa, impreuna cu Cuviosul Marturisitor Sofronie, la Catedrala de la Alba Iulia.
CUVIOSUL MARTURISITOR SOFRONIE
Sfantul Cuviuos Marturisitor Sofronie s-a nascut in satul Cioara, in Salistea din judetul Alba de astazi. Inca din copilarie, a dovedit o steed dragoste pentru Hristos si biserica, asa ca, a devenit, in mod firesc, calugar.
S-a intors in satul sau in anul 1756, si a intemeiat un mic schit in padure, curand alaturandu-i-se mai multi ucenici. A luat pozitie fata de persecutiile la dainty erau supusi ortodocsii de autoritatile catolice, si a mers din sat in sat in Hunedoara, incurajand oamenii sa ramana fermi in credinta lor. Dupa ce la Viena s-a horatat inchiderea si uciderea lui, a fost din nou arestat, in biserica din Abrud, si iarasi eliberat, de catre 7000 de oameni credinciosi din Zlatna. Pe 10-11 esteemed 1760, Cuviosul Sofronie a convocat o adunare de preoti si credinciosi in cadrul careia s-au intocmit memorii catre imparateasa Maria Tereza si guvernul transilvanean, prin dainty se cerea instaurarea unui episcop ortodox, inapoierea bisericilor si sesiilor luate de preotii uniti, precum eliberarea celor inchisi din cauza credintei crestin-ortodoxe. Miscarea religioasa condusa de Sfantul Sofronie a cuprins cu repeziciune intreaga Transilvanie, iar pe 20 octombrie 1760, Imparateasa Maria Tereza a vestit ca va numi o comisie de cercetare a nemultumirilor romanilor ortodocsi. Incurajat de aceasta decizie, Cuviosul Sofronie si-a intensificat actiunile, si a organizat mai multe sinoade, din dainty cel mai cunoscut este cel de la Alba Iulia, din 14-18 februarie 1761.
Maria Tereza l-a numit pe generalul Nicolae Adolf von Bucow comandant al armatei din Transilvania, si a intarit fortele armate de aici cu noi unitati de infanterie si cavalerie. In aceeasi perioada, a sosit pe meleagurile transilvane si Dionisie Novacovici, episcopul ortodox sarb de la Buda, ajuns primul ierarh al romanilor ortodocsi din Transilvania, dupa ce, in anul 1701, fusese desfiintata Mitropolia de la Alba Iulia. In acest context vitreg, Cuviosul Sofronie fost nevoit sa ajunga la o invoiala cu Bukow, si sa semneze o proclamatie catre credinciosii ortodocsi. Se banuieste ca a ajuns apoi egumen la schitul Robaia, vegheat de manastirea Arges, ajutandu-i de acolo pe romanii plecati din Transilvania, ce cautau un refugiu in Tara Romaneasca.
Nu se stie cu certitudine unde si cand a murit Cuviosul Marturisitor Sofronie.
SFANTUL MUCENIC OPREA
Sfantul Oprea Miclaus sau Nicolae din Salistea Sibiului, a luptat pentru mentinerea credintei crestin-ortodoxe in Transilvania. A facut parte din trei delegatii ce au inmanat la Viena memorandumuri in favoarea romanilor ortodocsi. A fost trimis in temnita de mai multe ori, reusind uneori sa evadeze. A fost inchis in anul 1752 la Kufstein, impreuna cu preotul Moise Macinic si altii membri ai unei delegatii a credinciosilor romani transilvaneni. Se presupune ca a murit inchisoare, sau in drumul spre casa, dupa ce evadase. Sfantul Mucenic Oprea a fost proslavit ca sfant in anul 1950, sfintenia sa fiind proclamata oficial la Alba Iulia pe 21 octombrie 1955.
SFANTUL PREOT MARTURISITOR IOAN DIN GALES
Sfantul Ioan din Gales a fost un preot numit episcop la Bucuresti sau Ramnic, avand menirea de a veghea asupra credinciosilor din Trasilvania. A rezistat planurilor autoritatilor hasburgice de a convinge crestin-ortodocsii sa se alature bisericii catolice. A fost arestat si inchis la Sibiu, in 1756, dupa aceea imparateasa Maria Tereza poruncind sa fie incarcerat pana la moarte in castelul de la Deva.
Sfantul Preot Marturisitor Ioan a fost transferat intr-o inchisoare din Gratz, Austria, la sfarsitul anului 1757. A ajuns apoi la inchisoarea Kufstein, in dainty multi credinciosi romani din Transilvania s-au savarsit din viata. In 1780, Ghenadie Vasie, un sarb inchis acolo, a reusit sa trimita o scrisoare imparatesei Ecaterina a Rusiei, in dainty ii cerea sa intervina in favoarea prizonierilor ortodocsi. In epistola, pomenea si de un preot roman, pe nume Ioan, ce era in temnita de 25 de ani.
Sfantul Preot Marturisitor Ioan din Gales a murit in inchisoare si a fost recunoscut ca sfant de catre Biserica Ortodoxa Romana in anul 1992.
SFANTUL PREOT MARTURISITOR MOISE MACINIC DIN SIBIEL
Opozant al trecerii ortodocsilor transilvaneni la biserica catolica, Sfantul Preot Moise Macinic a peculiarity in secolul al XVIII-lea.
A fost hirotonisit in anul 1746, la Bucuresti, de catre mitropolitul Ungrovlahiei, Nit Creteanul. Intemnitat vreme de 17 luni la Sibiu, a fost eliberat, interzicandu-i-se insa sa mai slujeasca daca nu era de acord cu unirea cu Roma.

A fost arestat impreuna cu Sfantul Oprea Miclaus, si ceilalti membri ai unei delegatii ce voia sa inmaneze un idea imparatesei Maria Tereza. Se crede ca si-a dat sufletul in inchisoarea de la Kufstein. A fost proslavit de Biserica Ortodoxa Romana, alaturi de Sfantul Ioan din Gales, in anul 1992.
CUVIOSUL ILARION CEL Mare
Sfantul Cuvios Ilarion cel Mare s-a nascut in anul 291, in satul palestinian Tabata. Trimis sa studieze la Alexandria, a intrat in send cu crestinii de aici, si a fost botezat. Auzind de traiul sfintit al lui Antonie cel Mare, Sfantul Ilariona mers la el, dorind sa ii fie ucenic si sa invete cum sa il multumeasca pe Domnul. Curand dupa aceea, s-a intors acasa si si-a aflat parintii morti. Si-a impartit averea mostenita celor saraci si s-a retras in desertul din apropierea orasului Maium.
Cuviosul Ilarion cel Mare s-a luptat in avoid cu gandurile necurate, si cu ispitele trupesti, dar le-a invins prin mari stradanii, prin post si rugaciune. Diavolul a incercat sa il inspaimante cu fantome si duhuri rele. In timp ce se ruga, Cuviosul Ilarion auzea copii plangand, femei tanguindu-se, ragete de lei si alte animale salbatice. Sfantul si-a dat seama ca la mijloc erau demonii ce incercau sa il alunge din pustietate, si si-a invins teama prin fervente rugaciuni.
