Reiki is a form of energy healing in which the hands of a healer are used to channel the Universal Life Force energy to another person. The practitioner does not guide the transmitted energy; it has it’s own innate wisdom to guide itself. This healing modality is practiced world-wide, both privately and in many hospitals.
What is meant by healing and how does Reiki fit into that?
The concept of healing varies when one compares Western and Eastern societies. Here in Western society we generally expect healing to mean the removal or alleviating of symptoms through well-researched allopathic means. But, because these remedies produce (sometimes undesired) effects different from those caused by the ailment, we are technically creating an imbalance in the body rather than healing it, even though we may feel “cured.” Reiki can help with this “I have a pain, make it go away” type of healing by improving the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
Eastern healing, on the other hand, practices generally take a more of a holistic, mind-body approach; the goal is to correct the existing imbalance that causes the ailment. One way to restore balance is through Reiki.
So, Reiki can help with both the body’s natural ability to heal itself and with imbalance in it.
Please note that Reiki should not replace traditional medical care!
