I possibly will put under somebody's nose the self-same by many other scriptures, old writers, and strong reasons"vii), John Knox ("But the pope has been antichrist"viii), John Wesley ("He is in an emphatical import, the Man of Sin, as he increases all manner of sin trimming beneficial. And he is, too, capably styled the Son of Perdition, as he has caused the death of innumerable multitudes, both of his opposers and gang"ix), John Wycliffe, John Huss, Jerome, and John Melanchthon.
