Be warned. It is unspeakably evil.

The good Witch is he or shee that by consent in a consultation with the deuill, doth vse his helpe, for the achievement of good onely. This cannot dent, intimidate, curse, or slay, but onely heal and reconcile the hurts inflicted upon men or cattell, by badde Witches. For as they can doe no good, but onely hurt; so this can doe no dent, but good onely. And this is that order which the deuill hath set in his ground, appointing to seuerall family their seuerall offices and charges. And the good Witch is commonly tearmed the vnbinding Witch.

Now howsoeuer these every one be euil, yet of the two, the exclusive offensive ">Wisemen, or Wise-women. These will injure by reliability in peak spaces in these countries. For let a mans childe, friend, or cattell be on the go with some painful problem, or unusually tormented with some bloody and vnknown sickness, the most basic thing he doth, is to bethink himselfe and have over following some Wiseman or Wise-woman, the Witch with beeing proficient of the sickness, prescribeth either Charmes of words to be vsed ouer him, or other such counterfeit meanes, wherein put forward is no reconcile, if it come by Witchcraft. Thin, the meanes are receiued, helpful, and vsed, the sicke partie as a result recouereth, and the solid of all is, the vsual acclamation; Oh happie is the day, that euer I met with such a man or person to helpe me![Busy from Episode Five, on page 638 of the 1618 Cambridge edition of the Self-possessed Works of William Perkins.]
