Borger, died Thursday, May 6, 1999, at Grand Prairie.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Minton / Chatwell Funeral
Directors Memorial Chapel at Borger with the Rev. Calvin Newton,
pastor of First Assembly of God, officiating. Burial will be in Garden
of Good Shepherd at Westlawn Memorial Park in Borger.
Mr. Salmon was born in Pecan Gap and moved to Dallas in 1969 from
Borger. He was an operator for J.M. Huber before retiring from the
Dallas Independent School District. He moved to Soper in 1981.
He married Nancy Marie Riggs in 1933. She died in 1991. He also was
preceded in death by a son, Larry Dean Salmon, in 1979.
Survivors include five sons, Robert Donald Salmon of Fritch, Herb
Salmon of Mesquite, J.R. Salmon of Grand Prairie, Roy Salmon of
Alvarado, and Billy Floyd Salmon of St. Louis, Mo.; two daughters,
Betty Hawley of Borger and Jean Hess of Grand Prairie; a sister, Viola
Tiffie of Honey Grove; 21 grandchildren; and numerous
great-grandchildren.
Narcisa A. Hernadez
OLTON - Narcisa A. Hernandez, 71, died Friday, May 7, 1999.
Funeral mass will be at 3 p.m. today in Immaculate Conception Church
in Dimmitt with the Rev. John Nino officiating. Burial will be in
Castro Memorial Gardens in Dimmitt by Foskey-LilleyMcGill Funeral Home
of Olton.
Mrs. Hernandez was born in Gonzalez and moved to Olton in 1987 from
Dimmitt. She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Olton.
She married Fernando Hernandez in 1944 at Clairmont. He died in 1985.
Survivors include three daughters, Lisa Aleman and Juanita Gonzalez,
both of Amarillo, and Lupe Perez of Olton; three brothers, Gill
Almanza and Phillip Almanza, both of Rotan, and Pete Almanza of
Odessa; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Ruby Belle Vaughn
TULIA - Ruby Belle Vaughn, 72, died Wednesday, May 5, 1999.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Rose Hill Cemetery with
the Rev. Don Hill, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church of Tulia,
officiating. Arrangements are by Wallace Funeral Home of Tulia.
Mrs. Vaughn was born in Lamar County and grew up in Memphis where she
attended school. She lived in Dumas before moving to Grand Prairie for
20 years. In 1985, she moved to Tulia, where she was a member of
Calvary Baptist Church.
She married H.L. "Bud" Vaughn in 1943 at Hollis, Okla. He died in
February.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Barnes of Rockwood, Tenn.,
Linda Smith of Portland, Ore., and Laveta Hankins of Amarillo; five
brothers, Charley Nolen and Dean Nolen, both of Tulia, Melvin Nolen of
Dallas, Raymond Nolen of Anton and John Nolen of Wichita Falls; a
sister, Sue Overton of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; and 11
great-grandchildren.

BORGER - Katy Sims, 93, died Friday, May 7, 1999.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Brown Funeral Directors Chapel
of the Fountains with the Rev. Orville Rogers, pastor of First Baptist
Church of Stinnett, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens
Cemetery in Pampa.
A native of Gause, Mrs. Sims was a Borger resident for 72 years. She
was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Stinnett and
Order of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, G.A. Sims, in 1995.
Survivors include two sons, Clea B. Sims of Borger and Bob Wesley Sims
of Universal City; a daughter, Shirley Propes of Westlake Village,
Calif.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Lorene R. Gay
BORGER - Lorene R. Gay, 75, of Borger, died Wednesday, May 5, 1999.
No services are planned at this time. Arrangements are by Brown
Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Gay was a native of Yale, Okla., and a Borger resident for 70
years. She was an accountant and assistant probation officer for
Hutchinson, Ochiltree and Sherman counties. She belonged to a Baptist
Church in Springfield, Mo.
Survivors include a son, B.J. Robinett of Pampa; a daughter, Gina
Spooner of Borger; six grandchildren; and a greatgrandchild.
Forrest Lee Denton Sr.
PANHANDLE - Forrest Lee Denton Sr., 83, died Friday, May 7, 1999.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Christian Church with Dr.
Doug Harvey, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Claude Cemetery by
Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage, Amarillo.
Mr. Denton was born in Meridan. In 1968, he retired after 28 years as
an engine foreman for Sante Fe Railroad. He then farmed and ranched
near Goodnight.
Mr. Denton was a member of First Christian Church of Panhandle and a
fiddler for the Panhandle Goodtimers. He moved to Panhandle in 1994
from Goodnight.
He married Maxine Routson in 1945 at Happy.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Frances McAffrey of
Amarillo and Joyce "Sue" Elliott of Tucson, Ariz.; two sons, Forrest
Lee Denton Jr. of Wylie and James Calvin Denton of Fort Smith, Ark.;
three sisters, Altha Todd of Waterford, Calif., Lillian Williams of
Shamrock and Rachel Key of Amarillo; three brothers, Jay Denton of
Borger, Clarence Denton of Plainview and Charles Denton of Amarillo;
11 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be today and Sunday at the funeral home and from 9 a.m.
until 1 p.m. Monday in First Christian Church in Panhandle.
The family suggests memorials be to First Christian Church of
Panhandle.

Mercer, both of Friona.

Mr. Rogers was born on the family farm north of Menlo, Kan., and
attended schools in Menlo. Until 1987, he farmed in the Rexford
community. From 1987 until 1999, he and his wife worked for Cal
Farley's Boys Ranch.
He married Connie Sue Anderson in 1967.

she was an AT&T telephone operator. She and her husband owned Perry
Sign Co. for many years. She was a Methodist.
She married Phinis Eldon Perry in 1930 at Breckenridge. He died in
1981.
Survivors include three nephews, Murray Ferguson of New Braunfels, Don
Ferguson of San Antonio and Don Chase of The Colony; and a niece, Alma
Ellen Godfrey-Neese of Albany.
Faye Bearden
OLTON - Faye Bearden, 85, died Friday, May 7, 1999.

Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home of Olton.
Mrs. Bearden was born in Edna and moved to Olton in 1942 from Paducah.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Olton.
She married W.W. "Bill" Bearden in 1934 at Paducah. She was preceded
in death by her husband in 1959 and by a son, Royce Bearden, in 1989.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Hasha of Graham and Becky
DeBerry of Olton; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Running Water Draw Care Center in
Olton or the Olton Ambulance Association.

Marie Anna Linville, 83, of Amarillo, a former longtime Plainview
resident, died Thursday, May 6, 1999.

Church at Plainview, officiating. Arrangements are by Wood Dunning
Funeral Home of Plainview.
Mrs. Linville was born in Stockholm, Neb., and moved to Plainview at a
young age. She moved to Amarillo in 1996. She was a seamstress and
owned and operated Linville Drapery Shop for many years. She was a
member of Bethel Baptist Church.
She married Ottie C. Linville in 1946 at Clovis, N.M. He died in 1987.
She also was preceded in death by a son and a daughter.
Survivors include a son, Charles Linville-McGregor of Texas; two
daughters, Betty Raymer of Plainview and Billie Marchbanks of
Amarillo; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Mary Ruth Pittman
Mary Ruth Pittman, 90, of Amarillo, died Thursday, May 6, 1999.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Memorial Park Cemetery
with the Rev. Bill Wade, associate pastor of Polk Street United
Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers
Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle.
Mrs. Pittman was born in Granbury. She received her bachelor of
science and master's of education degrees from West Texas State
University. In 1943, she moved to Amarillo after living and teaching
in Tascosa.
In 1973, Mrs. Pittman retired as an elementary school teacher for the
Amarillo Independent School District. She was a member of Polk Street
United Methodist Church, the Vaughn-Selby Sunday School Class, the
Amarillo Senior Citizens Association and was a volunteer with Meals on
Wheels.
She married Delie Pittman in 1931. He died in 1989.
Survivors include a brother, Albert Gregory of Fort Worth, two nephews
and a niece.
Darrel K. Davis Sr.
Darrel K. Davis Sr., 75, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, May 5, 1999.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Memorial Park Funeral Home, Chapel
of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Keith Boutwell, chaplain,
officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Spencer,
Iowa.
Mr. Davis was born in Grant Center, Iowa, and was an Army veteran of
World War II. He was an USDA meat inspector for the Department of
Agriculture. He moved to Amarillo in 1987 from Tama, Iowa, where he
was a member of Eagles Lodge.
He married Shirley May Carter in 1942 at Sioux City, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Darrel Kendall Davis Jr. of
Amarillo; two daughters, Janet Moore of Lufkin and Diana Feese of
McCook Lake, S.D.; a brother, Paul Davis of Rich; 10 grandchildren;
and 17 great-grandchildren.

So, I am borrowing a computer so I can post this new blog.This one is on why it is so difficult to heal yourself with magic. I have come across this problem a couple of times with magicians looking to heal themselves, really proficient mages at that. Even I have had this problem! So, what is the deal?
The main issue with this is the act of healing itself. Magical healing involves drawing in more vital force then the patient currently has and then filling them with the power along with the intention of life, health and balance. With any magic, if you have mental programs running in the background that are antithetical to the work then those programs slip into the magic and cause it to backfire. So, now we have the basics as to how to heal, what is the problem with healing the self? The problem two fold and is this: If you are ill and try to heal yourself you will have a very hard time drawing in enough power to cover the deficiency, so it is like trying to cut your own hair, you just can't reach the spot. The other problem is actually easy to overcome with the right method. The program, if you are sick and trying to heal yourself then the program running in the background is "I am sick." so when you load the intention into the magical force that program slips in and continues to create illness rather then health. Just like trying to do magic for wealth, you are reaffirming poverty as you work towards wealth by the very act of doing the magic. What is needed is to reach a state where your energy reflects health or wealth, by synchronizing your sphere with the force of health your vibration will reproduce the state. A example is being depressed and just telling yourself to be happy while sitting in a dark gloomy place, not going to do it! Go watch some comedies, get out on a sunny day and enjoy nature! By placing yourself in that vibration you start to reflect that vibration.

Now over time with the above work I have noticed an amazing improvement but now and then it still acts up. Just part of living in the physical world is all. A counter example is my eyes. For the longest time I had poor vision, I was near sighted. I did months of vital force work on them, did the Bardon eye baths, filled them with light and just did good old fashioned magic work on them. The eye doctor noticed a slight improvement. Still it was not a miracle heal. I kept on though. Then one day, we came into a few thousand dollars out of the blue. The 'portion' of the Akashic Records connected to an individual- referred to as their Akashic Field-contains all thought, feeling, action from past lives, present life, and future potentials that they have access to at any point in time. It may be thought of as a configuration of thoughts and beliefs that determines the person's point of consciousness in time. Cayce emphasized that a person's individual Akashic records are continually updated and rewritten by their own free will and choices made in the present. Every choice-either rooted in love or fear-causes both past and futures to be updated with that energy of intention. The past exists as perception within our mind, which may either be repressive or uplifting to us-by making choices in the present that transcend our fixed or negative perceptions of the past, we effectively change the past in our minds. Likewise, the future is also a thought that may act to repress or expand our consciousness. Within each present-moment choice, we either bury or we uncover and utilize hidden potentials, and this is how we choose the future that will be unfolded among all the possibilities held in our Akashic Field. The important point is that these records are living and changing according to our changing consciousness expressed via choice, and so in no way is our life predetermined.
CJ Martes, the developer of Akashic Field Therapy (AFT), explains that Cayce's theories on the Akashic Field are strikingly similar to views that have emerged from Quantum Physics. The recently discovered area of time and space called the Quantum vacuum or Zero-point field is described as a sea of electromagnetic zero-point energy that underlies everything, and that the very stability of matter depends on its presence. It is thought that this vacuum is a "super dense cosmic frictionless medium that carries light and all the universal forces of nature."1 In Science and the Akashic Field, L'aszl'o posits that it is also a sea of information conveying the historical experience of matter. The above understandings form the basis for Akashic Field Therapy. By clearing the traumas, blockages and other dense energy imprints in the Field, we can have an immediate impact on a person's perception in the present, and consequently, on the life unfolding within the Field. AFT is a process of finding and clearing limiting or negative 'life programs' (LPs) within a person's psyche. Each LP comprises a set of about 5 or 6 'patterns' that present hindrance to a person's growth. A pattern is something like an emotional block, a 'mask' a person wears, a routine behavior, an entrenched emotional state or negative belief, an energy drain such as a 'cord' attachment to a loved one, and so forth. These patterns may be considered as dense energy thoughtforms in a person's Field, which hinder 'light' and thus, conscious awareness. When these become 'triggered', the person goes into reaction according to those patterns, which are unconscious in them. The patterns are interconnected--so when one gets triggered, the whole comes into play.
Each LP has a root or exacerbating trauma that is also identified and released. These are very important, as the psyche develops many defensive patterns to prevent access to the root trauma. So when the root trauma is lessened or released, the impact is felt throughout the Field. While the shift may be subtle at first, it gains momentum in time.
The process if very flexible and specific issues may be zeroed in on (overweight, depression, relationship, illness, etc.). It also works very quickly in children because their programs and patterns are not as enmeshed or embedded as they typically are with adults.
THE AKASHIC FIELD AND THE EIGHT EXTRAORDINARY VESSELS OF ACUPUNCTURE
My interest in Akashic fields came out of a fascination with the eight extraordinary meridians or vessels (also referred to by Donna Eden as strangeflows). The view from esoteric acupuncture is that, more than pathways of qi, meridians are roadmaps leading us to our destiny, and that the extraordinary vessels, as precursor to the ordinary meridians, move essence rather than qi. Essence moves in cycles of time (lifecycles) and controls our growth and development according to the potential existing within it. According to how our potential is realized or repressed, these vessels will flow freely or become blocked. Esoterically, these vessels hold a record of all we've been and done and all our latent potentials--which is what is held in the Akashic field. These vessels act as reservoirs of karma and synchronicity, feeding our lives as appropriate. They also act as reservoirs for the overflow 'stuff' that we cannot reconcile in our daily lives via the 12 ordinary meridians. The eight extraordinary vessels may thus be considered as the etheric infrastructure that holds the Akashic information. And so clearing the Field would be equivalent to clearing and supporting the eight strangeflows of acupuncture.
And as these vessels are precursors to the quality and flow of the qi in our meridians, which in turn are precursor to our manifested physicality, the effects of this clearing work are far-reaching and life changing.

Planting herbs at Ostara is something I have done to satisfying effect in the past. Depending on what my general aims are for the festival I either hang on to them or have also given them away as gifts if I want to replenish energies around me (it's important to remember that energies are all about balance - giving and taking). However, I do not plant them on Ostara itself but at the full moon which this year on the 30th.
While using moon phases is an old Pagan method, it is still used in many agricultural areas today so is far from being restricted to witchcraft spells! It's about the gravitational pull of the moon as well as the amount of moisture in the soil. So consequently, this part of my Ostara spell and ritual will be delayed until the full moon.
However this does not mean I do not have a few plans for beforehand. There has been a lot of rain for us lately and so if this continues I will be collecting rain water a couple of days before I plant the seeds which I'll use to water them.
I also like to decorate the pots and trays on Ostara itself so that I get the feel of the festival right. If I manage to come up with something half presentable, I may even post my efforts!
As I mentioned before, I've opted for mint, parsley and basil for my herbs this year. I've chosen them on the basis that I like them to be honest but mint is a very popular herb to plant at Ostara or to use in cooking if your rustling up a feast. It has just the right fresh taste to represent the feel of this time of year :)
