Making An Herbal Oil Or Ointment Cover
Herbal oils are great for making bath products, scenting candles and potpourri, and for massage. Ointments are great for chapped lips, dry patches of skin, and other topical uses.

To make herbal oil, wash fresh herbs and dry them overnight. Slice herbs (or crumble if using dried herbs) and place them in a bottle. Cover with about one inch of light extra virgin olive oil, sunflower oil, or almond oil. Cover tightly and let stand in a warm area for 2 weeks, making sure to shake daily. Strain and rebottle. Most oils keep in sealed bottles for up to a month. Refrigeration tends to keep the oils for longer.

To make an ointment, melt 2 ounces of vegetable lanolin or beeswax in a double boiler. Add 80-120 drops of tincture and mix well. Pour immediately into containers and refrigerate until hardened.
