Mode of action

Allicin the major constituent present in the garlic acts specifically on two types of enzymes present in the body:-

* Cystenine proeniases
* Alcohol dehydrogenase

These two enzymes function by acting on the invading antigens and destroy them. Also they have a major role in the metabolism process. Allicin enzyme gets activated when it reacts with sulfa- hydryl group. This complex when formed is responsible for lowering down the cholesterol level in the body.
