- The Druid stands or sits with the patient, the patient seated or lying. If the Druid has his Wand and Cauldron, then the Cauldron might sit in the lap of the patient, or be held in her hands, with a moderate amount of a healing drink in the vessel. The Druid holds the Wand. Without the Wand and Cauldron, there should still be a vessel of drink, and the raised hand of the Druid shall serve.
- The Druid brings the Two Powers strongly into the self, perhaps finishing with the Kindling Charm.
- The Druid raises her hand, or the wand, and divides the Two Powers, allowing the Dark to fill the earth beneath the patient, and the Light to accumulate in the Wand or hand. Using the breath, the Two Powers are built up, with the patient in the field between them.
o The Druid focuses the Light, with Wand or hand, into the drink in the Cauldron or vessel, allowing it to be charged by the images of the charm, spoken or sung three times:
Powers of Land and Sky attend me.
Attend me powers of Earth and Sun.
Mighty Spear of Lugh defend the
Earth from which all life's begun.

from the deeps

- As the third recitation is completed the Druid focuses the Light and Shadow into the drink in the vessel, drawing the sigil over the vessel with hand or Wand. The patient then drinks the drink.

Write the ill person's name on a white, human shaped candle of the appropriate gender. As you anoint it with three drops of myrrh or mint oil, visualize healing energy in the form of white light flowing form you hand into the candle, and say:
IN THE DIVINE NAME OF THE GODDESS
WHO BREATHES LIFE INTO US ALL
I CONSECRATE AND CHARGE THIS CANDLE
AS A MAGICKAL TOOL FOR HEALING
Place the candle on top of a photograph of the ill person, then light the wick. As the candle burns down, concentrate on the person in the photograph, will him or her to be well again. Chant the following incantation:
MAGICK MEND
AND CANDLE BURN
SICKNESS END
GOOD HEALTH RETURN

As has been widely reported on the net and in ADF's in-house lists, Isaac Bonewits, elder of North American neopaganism, author, lecturer and Founder of Ar nDraiocht Fein, as well as a good friend and colleague of mine, to my pride, is having difficulty responding to treatment for his rare nether-cancer. See a good report here.
In response, many of his friends and well-wishers are taking up a campaign of magical work in support of his health and recovery. Along with more focused efforts I give a simple photoshop talisman with this article. You can participate directly in its spell by taking up your favorite strong drink (however striong that may be for you) and raising one to Isaac's image, saying "Slainte!" (slawnchuh), which as well as being a popular Irish toast plainly means "Health to You", and drinking. Doing this repeatedly can only add to the power of the work.
There are so many good things to say about Isaac's life and work, but ya know, I'll write no eulogies today. Slainte!

Herbal vapors are excellent for healing upper respiratory infections, headaches, and clearing stuffy noses. Herbal vapors are also a good way to clean out ones pores and can be used as part of a facial treatment. One must make sure that the water is slightly cooled, however, due to the fact that inhaling steam that is too hot can lead to nose or throat damage.
One method of making an herbal vapor is to fill a sink with very hot water, allowing a trickle of hot water to continue (in order to keep the water hot). Add drops of herbal oil to the water and inhale for five minutes, adding more oil if needed due to dilution from the running water.
A second method involves boiling water in a large pot on the stove, then adding a handful of herbs to the pot. Simmer for 5 minutes, then remove from heat and allow to cool slightly. Make a tent over your head with a large towel and place your head over the pot of water. Keep your face at least 18 inches from the water. Inhale steam for 5 minutes. If the steam seems too hot, be sure to allow it to cool off more before continuing the process.

Herbal medicine is the ancient and holistic way of our ancestors used to cure illness and imbalance within our families and our communities...when our ancestors were brought to the Americas they were forced to cultivate a new relationship with the herbs and herbal medicines available in this land.
I am a true daughter of the Caribbean and I was thaught my grandmother’s wisdom as a young girl...aloes for cold, lemongrass for fever, soursop for insomnia...my mother taught me how to recognize that leaves of plants so I would know which plants to pick when she sent me out to the yard.
When I became intiated my herbal wisdom was further increased and the use of divination allows for the practitioner to have precision of choosing the right herbs for medicine. 3 cups water
1 teaspoon yarrow
1 teaspoon rosemary
1 teaspoon peppermint
1/2 teaspoon sage
Boil the water and add herbs to steep for 5 minutes. Create a tent over your head with a bath towel and sit with head over water. Relax for 8-10 minutes. Follow with a face wash and moisturizer treatment. Do not use this herbal steam more than once per week.

* 3 pints elder flowers (stems removed)
* 3 gallons water
* 10 pounds sugar
* 2 pounds raisins
* Juice of 3 oranges
* Juice of 1 lemon
* 1 pkg wine yeast
Wash and drain elder flowers and put in primary fermentor.
Make a syrup of water and sugar, pour it hot over elderflowers, cover and allow to cool.
Mix orange and lemon juice with the yeast, add the liquid, cover and let stand for 10 days.
Strain and add the raisins.
Cover and let stand for 4 months.
Bottle the wine and store in a dark place for 6 months before using.
